1st XI Win First Round of National KO Cup

Sunday saw the first competitive game of the season, with a new-look Southgate 1st XI taking on Harold Wood CC in the first round of the National Knockout Cup. A good all-round performance saw Southgate win through to the second round, with encouraging performances with both bat and ball from new and old players alike suggesting there will be plenty to look forward to in the 2007 season.

Fantasy League 2007

The SCC 2007 Fantasy League is now up and running. Player ratings and entry forms have been sent out and are available for download here
Prizes are always excellent and the Fantasy League is always a hot conversation topic in the clubhouse after each match, so don't be left out!
Make sure you get your team in before the start of the season (Midday - Sat 12 May).

New Appointments

On Wednesday the 29th of November, the election of captains and officials took place.
  • Peter Jouning will be standing as President for a 4th year.
  • David Howell and Jamie Jouning have been proposed as Vice Presidents of the club in recognition of their distinguished service to the club.

    The captains and vice captains for 2007 will be:

    Durham Twenty20 Tour

    Two weekends ago (13th/14th/15th April), Alvin and Rob lead the first Southgate charge of the new season with a trip to the Cathedral city of Durham for a couple of Twenty20 matches (sponsored by Northern Rock) against hosts, Felling Cricket Club and a North East Students XI whose old boys include such Southgate names as Creese, Johnson, Robinson, Bagley and Singleton.

    This was a great chance for some pre-season practice for those who made it. For those of you that missed out, you still have one more week of pre-season friendlies before the season starts in earnest.

    Southgate Colts

    Southgate CC has a colts section of over 130 boys and girls. A powerful Under 15s side won their league division in 2006 and the club is especially keen that these successful players will graduate into the adult sides. The Under 13s and Under 11s progressed well, but the Under 10s showed remarkable promise, winning six, tying 1 and losing only two games.

    Former Middlesex CCC captain Ben Hutton was the guest of honour at the recent colts presentation dinner. A great night was had by all and the club wishes to thank Ben for his support.

    The club always needs adult assistance with coaching and managing matches if we are to provide our young players with the opportunity to learn and improve their game. Please contact Ricky Gunn (020 8360 6478 or ricky@gunn1.com) if you are able to play a part in the coming year.
